Lillian Tay trained as a civil engineer and architect at Princeton University, USA, and worked at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in New York prior to returning to Kuala Lumpur in 1991. She is a Senior Principal at VERITAS Architects, Kuala Lumpur where her projects include Menara Binjai, 1 Sentral, Digi headquarters and Putrajaya Transport Terminal.

A former Vice President at PAM (Malaysian Institute of Architects), she is presently a PAM Council Member where she chairs the Media & Publications Committee and is Editor-in-chief of Architecture Malaysia.  She has written on works of architecture in Malaysia and had once initiated a comment column called ‘Buka Mata’ which had seen a landmark defamation suit which she successfully defended to set legal case history in Malaysia for the right for critical comment on works of architecture and the creative arts.

A Council Member of Badan Warisan Malaysia since 2002, Lillian advocates the conservation of urban architectural heritage particularly in her hometown of Kuala Lumpur.  Lillian has spoken on topics related to architecture and urbanism and regularly participates as a guest critic at the schools of architecture in Malaysia.
