The Marco Goldschmied Foundation The Marco Goldschmied Foundation was established as an arts charity with specific reference to architecture. In 1998 it founded the Stephen Lawrence Prize, in memory of Stephen Lawrence who was murdered in 1993 and who would have graduated as an architect in 1998. Now in its 14th year, it is a £5,000 prize for smaller projects that would not win the Stirling Prize and also provides study bursaries to architecture students. The Foundation also sponsored the £20,000 Stirling Prize in 2009 and has supported various organisations such as Tate Britain's James Stirling retrospective and the British School at Rome and the charity Article 25.

The Faculty of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong established the Shanghai Study Centre in 2008. It is housed in the historical Post Office Building, on Suzhou Creek.

The Faculty operates several programs in Shanghai, which is a vital counterpart to other programs in Hong Kong. Its goal is to provide every undergraduate in the Department of Architecture, and the Division of Landscape Architecture with one complete semester of studies in China, without interrupting his or her degree program at HKU.

The Shanghai Study Centre also houses the HKU Shanghai Office, the HKU Journalism and Media Study Center, and architecture SH (a public gallery for the exhibition of design projects related to the mission of the Centre). The Department of Architecture conducts joint studios and other activities with other overseas Universities at the Centre.
