Li Hu is the founding partner of OPEN Architecture, an experimental design and research studio based in Beijing. He is also the director of Studio-X Beijing for Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.
Previously, he was a partner at Steven Holl Architects (SHA) and was responsible for the design of the firms' award-wining projects in Asia, including the Linked Hybrid in Beijing, Vanke Center in Shenzhen, Raffles City in Chengdu, and Sifang Museum in Nanjing. He joined Steven Holl Architects in 2000, became a partner in 2005, and then founded and led SHA's Beijing office.
Li Hu was also the co-founder of the bilingual architectural journal 32:Beijing/New York together with Steven Holl and Yungho Chang. Li Hu is a frequent lecturer and critic at some of the leading international architectural schools and institutions.
Born in 1973, he received his B. Arch. from Tsinghua University in Beijing and M. Arch. from Rice University in Houston.
