Shalini Ganendra owns and operates Shalini Ganendra Fine Art, a gallery and artist residence in Kuala Lumpur. She is actively engaged in developing recognition for outstanding regional artistic talent through, inter alia, exhibition, publication and exchange. As a proponent of cultural encounters, her organisation has initiated a number of non-profit initiatives that involve curatorial, art and design knowledge building. Ms. Ganendra's specialty is Asian Contemporary Art & Design with particular focus on talents from emerging regions.
She is experienced in advising arts organizations and individual collectors in building, maintaining and appraising museum quality collections. She works closely with clients to formulate thoughtful strategies for the disposition of entire collections or single works of art. She is a graduate of Cambridge University and Columbia Law School. She has served on juries and judging panels for numerous awards, including most recently, Sovereign Art Prize: ASVOFF 6 (Fashion Film), Paris; Commonwealth Art Awards (UK); inaugural Caochangdi Photofestival/ Photo d'Arles, (Beijing); and the Smithsonian Institution's SARF Award (Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship).
